Company Policy Series – EEO/Unlawful Harassment Policy Sample
The purpose of the Equal Employment Opportunity/Unlawful Harassment Policy is to create and maintain a work environment in which employees are treated with dignity and respect. The policy is designed to define the Company’s position regarding employee equal employment and harassment, to maintain a working environment that is free from any form of harassment, discrimination, or intimidation, and to communicate the process for employees to follow when filing a complaint.
The following is what an EEO/Unlawful Harassment Policy could look like:
“The Company is dedicated to the principles of equal employment opportunity in any term, condition, or privilege of employment. We prohibit unlawful discrimination against applicants or employees on the basis of age, race, gender, color, sexual orientation, genetic information, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other status protected by state or local law. The Company does not condone and will not tolerate any form of harassment in the workplace by any employee or any third parties on our premises over which we have control. This policy applies to employees, including managers, supervisors, co-workers, and non-employees such as customers, clients, vendors, consultants, etc.”
In addition, some other guidelines in the Policy should include:
- ADA and Religious Accommodations
- Affirmative Action (if required)
- Non-retaliation
- Complaint Procedures
Not all companies require the same polices and it is recommended that polices be tailored to a company’s specific needs. If you would like a complete version of this policy, please contact us.
