“Process mapping” is another way for companies to adapt to post-recession employee relations, said Patrick Johnson, human resources consultant and co-owner of Investment HR of Denver. Process mapping is a workflow diagram that leads employees visually through complex work functions.
“Employees can pick up a process map and it will show them what they need to do step by step like a flow chart,” Johnson said. “Because employees don’t have to guess, they can handle a larger workload more easily, saving time and money,” said Johnson, who performs HR consulting work, recruiting and outsourcing services for small-to-midsized Denver companies.
Process mapping can relieve employee tension because it provides detailed strategies to solve problems, no matter how unprepared employees may be to handle them, he said.
